As some of you may know, Nancy was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 1982 – a traumatizing experience for a 32-year-old working mother of four. When she wasn’t caring for her husband and children, she was working for the Florida Department of Forestry or as a part-time beautician. Now, 30 years later, there is promising medical treatment for MS – a stem cell transplant that has no adverse side effects and has a 95% success rate. This treatment is expensive and not covered by insurance.
Soon after her diagnosis, Nancy became paralyzed from the waist down and was told that there was a good possibility that she would never have full use of her hands, that she might have to be fed and, due to slurred speech, she might never be able to speak clearly enough to be understood. Through her faith in God and Jesus, along with a precise nutritional program, Nancy was able to able to walk with a cane, speak clearly and has almost full use of her hands. Currently restricted to an electric scooter, she has renewed hope for a better life thanks to the possibility of a stem cell transplant.
Due to existing co-pays on multiple medical bills, we live paycheck-to paycheck. The stem cell transplant will cost us $12,500 which includes the treatment, out-patient therapy and a room for Nancy and me in Fort Lauderdale during the procedure.
To help offset such expenses, a fundraising campaign in Nancy’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southeast Stem Cell Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. If you would like to make a contribution today please click the DONATE NOW button.
Gratefully,
