Patrick is the father to three wonderful children and three adorable grandchildren. His family is very supportive and committed to seeing him through his upcoming transplant surgery. Patrick is known to be one of the most caring and giving people you will ever meet. He has spent over twenty years working very hard as a truck driver to support his family. He would give the shirt off his back and his last dollar to anyone and everyone in need. Some days, he tries hard to cover up his illness, because he doesn’t want to be a “burden” or have people feel sorry for him. Despite his own health struggles, Patrick still tries to help others as best he can. He doesn’t want to be the person who needs help; however, during this difficult time he must learn to accept the help from others, as more than ever he wants to overcome his illness and get back to his old self.
While Patrick waits for the telephone call that will save his life, he enjoys spending time with his “favorite child” —his dog RJ. RJ has been a source of comfort and friendship for Patrick, as waiting for a lifesaving kidney transplant is difficult emotionally, physically and financially. Patrick is out of work and facing very high out-of-pocket medical expenses. Multiple hospital stays have left him with outstanding medical bills. Large co-pays and deductibles, health insurance premiums, caregiver fees, travel and lodging costs and medications are quickly adding up to more than Patrick can handle on his own. He will also be required to take costly, post-transplant anti-rejection medications that are needed for the rest of his life. Oklahoma University Medical Center is requiring Patrick to raise money, so he will able to afford both his pre and post-transplant expenses. Patrick desperately needs your help during this financially difficult time.
Patrick has chosen to fundraise with HelpHOPELive in part because HelpHOPELive assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for donors. Donors can be sure that funds donated will be used only to pay or reimburse medically-related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Donate Now button. Thank you ahead of time for your generosity, prayers and support for Patrick.
Gratefully,
Mashayla Martin, Patrick’s loving daughter, 918-413-0701

A week ago, Patrick suffered from another heart attack. His health is going downhill, fast. As many know, with bad health comes depression. Patrick is suffering in many ways that not everyone knows. But he has realized that he has to fight for this beautiful life of his. He is committed to surviving. He went from absolutely refusing to go to the hospital throughout his life - to now he knows they are there to help him. I am proud of the fighter he is! He is one strong man!
Thank you to everyone that has donated! Especially to two of his doctors. It means the world!
