My loving husband, Houmtala Taloa is in end stage liver disease and is in desperate need of a life-saving liver transplant.
Tala is from the Kingdom of Tonga a very close knit and supportive community. At birth he was diagnosed with biliary atresia, a life threatening liver disease. With the support of his community, at the age of 11 he received his first transplant in Australia. In 1999, he came to America for better healthcare, completed his high school and college education and worked as an aircraft mechanic. He is a wonderful father to our three children, active in the community and good friend to many. He has always been a hard worker, will do anything to provide for his family and is a true role model of strength and determination for our children.
Over the last few years, Tala’s health has declined rapidly. He is no longer able to work and has endured multiple hospital stays and procedures. He is now on the waiting list for a liver transplant and we are also looking into the possibility of a living donor transplant. We are humbly asking for your help to push forward.
Even with insurance there are many expenses that will need to be paid out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles, lab fees and Tala will be on a life-time of anti-rejection medications. This is where your help is needed
A fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southwest Liver Transplant Fund and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider a contribution.

On behalf of Tala, our children, and myself, thank you for your ongoing love, support, kindness and prayers.
