My loving wife, Dana Herring, received a life-saving lung transplant in 2012. Her lungs are working very well but sadly, the anti-rejection medications she must take daily have destroyed her kidneys. She is now on dialysis and is waiting for a life-saving kidney transplant. We have a very special person who is a compatible donor is in the final stages of testing who would like to give Dana the ultimate Gift of Life.
Dana is a wonderful mother to our daughter Tequila, doting grandmother of our two granddaughters, active member of our church and good friend to many. She looks forward to being dialysis free and many more years of giving back and helping others.
As you can imagine, a transplant is very expensive. Even with insurance there are many expenses that must be paid out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles, travel to and from Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville; relocation expenses at the time of transplant and Dana will be on a lifetime of additional anti-rejection medications. This is where your help is desperately needed.
A fundraising campaign in Dana’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southeast Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant related expenses only. Please consider a contribution.

On behalf of Dana, myself and our family, thank you for your kindness, generosity, support and prayers.

Have had several set backs this Spring and Summer, but I am still here, by the grace of God! In April I spent at Vanderbilt with a multi system failure, on a ventilator for 9 days and then rehab to get to where I could stand and walk on my own again. the n This month my immune system dropped to almost zero, so that geot me another 7 days in the hospital to build up my immune system and treat an infection. I am so thankful God put Butch in my life, he has been thru and helped me through so much! I have been blessed!
Time is fast approaching, preadmission testing next week! Transplant in 4!!!!! Thank you Carrie for saving my life!
I am so Thankful and Blessed to have such a generous Church and Community! Our bake sale was awesome, ladies volunteering to make their breathtaking "signature" cakes and goodies, and wonderful folks purchasing them to support this life changing surgery. I am so humbled by the outpouring of such love.
Carrie is taking the last test today, after which the results should go to the Vanderbilt Kidney Transplant team, for them to decide if we are a go, for Carrie to be designated as my donor! Thank you to all those who have supported us, not only with your money, but with your thoughts and prayers. Believe me when I state with certainty, that this IS the Work of Our Lord. For He has a plan!
Thank you HelpHOPELive for realizing the hardship in today medical situations and providing such a wonderful means to allow those who want to help those in need.
We had a Wonderful day for our BBQ Fundraiser! Thanks to everyone that came out and showed their support.
Special thanks to Evergreen Baptist Church, Debra Smith, Tracie Crawford, Pat Fomby, and Jennie Ritchie for spending long countless hours helping me prepare the yummy food.
We had a mini highschool reunion also, Paul Arnold, Vickie Holmes, Sharon Burton,MaryAnn Brooks, Cherry Saint. It really touched my heart that they came!
Carrie, my potential donor, has completed her medical clearance testing, we now are waiting to here the results,as God will answer in His time.
I received a precious Gift of Life in 2012, a double lung transplant and now I am in renal failure, on dialysis, and need a kidney transplant due to the anti rejection medications. I'm so blessed to have a compatible living donor, and I am trying to raise money for my donor and myself for uncovered medical, travel and lodging costs .
to the best BFF!! You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers!!!
