Our father, Jim Collie is a 59-year-old man who is very ill. He suffers from pulmonary fibrosis and is in end stage liver failure. His doctors at the University of Virginia Medical Center have told us that his only option is a life-saving double lung and liver transplant. Our family is committed to seeing him through this transplant.
Dad is the wonderful father of five, grandfather to nine, brother, uncle, cousin and good friend to many. He is a really funny person, always making everyone laugh. He spent many years managing convenience stores and he also did a lot of work for vault companies and cemeteries. Unfortunately, due to his poor health, he is unable to work and do many things we all take for granted. Once he has received the transplant he looks forward to watching his grandchildren grow up, spending time with family and becoming an active member of the community once again.
Transplants are lifesaving but financially draining. Even with insurance, Dad is facing very high out of pocket expenses including co-pays, deductibles, travel to and from the transplant center, relocation at the time of transplant and he will be on a lifetime of anti-rejection medications. This is where your help is needed.
To help with the financial burden of Dad’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Liver/Lung Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant related expenses only. On behalf of Dad and our families, thank you for your kindness, generosity, support and prayers. Keep an eye on this campaign page because we will be planning some fundraising events soon and posting updates regularly.
Gratefully,
Jamie Collie

Donations and prayers. so far no success in getting the transplants. Any funds not used for transplant can be used for burial . I have no life insurance and do not want to put this on my kids.
I'M really getting worried, Pittsburgh turned me down today. That would make 4 to do so.
I.can't give up though. I'll keep trying .
I have written a letter to Duke transplant center, and asked them to reconsider my transplant evaluation. Hope to hear favorably soon. Go to my pulmonary doctor Wed.4-13-16 and my liver doctor next month.
Love you! Always thinking and praying for you.
