My dad, Shane Norton is 43 years old, a single father and has struggled with diabetes since he was a child. His doctors at the University of Wisconsin Hospital told him that he needed a life-saving kidney and pancreas transplant. I have great news to share with you. Dad received the ultimate gift of life, a kidney and pancreas transplant!
Dad was diagnosed with end stage renal failure in June of 2015. He was completely dependent on dialysis three days every week for survival. He is the son of Donna (Bill) McGuire of Amboy, IL and Ken (Lynn) Norton of Norwood Young America, MN. Dad is my best friend and buddy and the best Dad I could ever imagine having. I will do anything I can to keep him alive and healthy. Now that he has received the gift of life he can’t wait to go back to work and do so many things he hasn’t been able to do for so long. However, we do need your help.
Transplants are life-saving but also very expensive. Even with insurance there are many expenses that must be paid out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles, lab fees, and travel back and forth to the transplant center for follow-up appointments. In addition, Dad will be on a life-time of very expensive anti-rejection medications. This is where he needs your support.
A fundraising campaign in Dad’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the North-Central Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. I need each of you to help me keep him healthy. I want him to be around to see me graduate from high school, go on to college and be a grandpa to my kids someday. If you want to help with fundraising please contact me thru my Dad. On behalf of my Dad and our family, thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, support and prayers.
