Peggy was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension in 2000. Recently, Peggy’s disease has progressed to the stage where she now needs to use oxygen constantly. She will soon need a heart and lung transplant.
Peggy is married to Gary “Bubby” DeWitt and has three children. Jake is 23, William 18, and Eli 16. Peggy has worked in the maintenance department at Fort Hunter Liggett for 12 years. Though she has insurance, many transplant expenses such as travel and relocation to Stanford University Hospital, will not be covered. These costs threaten to overwhelm her family.
To help alleviate the financial burden of transplantation, a fundraising campaign has been established in Peggy’s honor with HelpHOPELive for her uninsured medical expenses. HelpHOPELive (HelpHOPELive) is a nonprofit organization that has been providing assistance to the transplant community for more than 25 years. Your tax-deductible contribution is greatly appreciated.

Peggy, you are such a stronge woman. You have been a real trooper through this whole ordeal. I want you to know I admire you greatly for the strength and "no other way" attitute you show. I'm sure you have moments, but you do not show any weakness. That kind of strength is what will get you through the rest of this. Then, you can really be ornry and fiesty. My prayers are with you and your family.
