Dorothy, “Dottie” Steele, 65, was diagnosed with emphysema and COPD several years ago. After numerous tests and evaluations, her doctors at Vanderbilt University Medical Center have told us that she now needs a lung transplant in order to survive. Dottie is a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and we pray that she’ll be with us all for a long time to come.
Dottie was born in Geraldine, Ala., and raised in Chattanooga, Tenn. Now, she and I live together in Bryant, Ala. Dottie enjoys serving the Lord and is active in her church community. After surgery, she looks forward to more volunteer and service opportunities so she can continue her service to the Lord.
Even with insurance, transplantation is very expensive. Dottie will have several out-of-pocket medical expenses, including follow-up visits, travel and relocation to Vanderbilt, and the costly medications she will have to take for the rest of her life. She cannot afford this transplant without our help.
To help offset such expenses, a fundraising campaign in Dottie’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive. To make a tax-deductible donation, click Donate Now.
If we all work together, we can make sure that Dottie lives a long and healthy life. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.
With sincere gratitude,
Jeanette Casey, Dorothy’s daughter
