After many years of helping others Carl is now the one who needs our help. The medical bills are mounting fast and Carl already owes $15,000 for testing alone. The lung transplant and follow-up medications and treatments are very expensive. The lung transplant will cost $11,000 above insurance.

Even with Medicare and Advantage coverage, there are co-pays and deductibles, medications, clinic visits and hotel costs for the required stay near the hospital after the transplant that could top $20,000. There will also be lifetime expenses for the costly anti-rejection medications.

To help with the financial burden of Carl’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years.
