Cape Coral woman seeks kidney donor while helping others

Melissa Tuff

A decorative newsprint graphic.

“My plans pretty much just stopped, and focusing on staying alive was the only thing that I could do.”

Since she was 17, Melissa Tuff has been on dialysis, fighting each day to stay alive. When her first kidney transplant failed, her battle intensified: her wait for a transplant continues because her body now contains higher antibodies than it did before she first received the gift of life.

While she waits, she devotes her time to organizations that educate the public on transplantation and living donation.

“I’m not ready to give up yet.”
