On Saturday, September 7, Help Hope Live will present a customized adaptive bike to 12-year-old Favio at Abilities Expo Phoenix in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Favio is living with a rare condition called Lowe syndrome, which affects his vision, kidneys, and brain. He is in Stage 4 kidney failure. Despite his health challenges, Favio is pretty active:
“He likes to be doing things he likes,” said his mom, Kimberly McKinney, who adopted Favio and his older brother, who shares the same genetically inherited condition.
Favio enjoys bowling, racing people in his wheelchair, and dancing to his favorite music. He loves being outdoors and has a newfound love of basketball.
“Having an adaptive bike will truly impact Favio’s life because he will be more active, be outdoors more, and give him independence.”
With a price tag of $5,000 or more, adaptive bikes are often financially out-of-reach for families, which is why this special giveaway will be life changing for Favio and his family. We are grateful for the generous support of partners like the Rosenblatt Foundation for making this adaptive bike donation possible.
