Our annual Live It Up! gala celebrates the accomplishments and milestones Help Hope Live supporters make possible.

Join us October 24 at The Drexelbrook in Drexel Hill, PA to celebrate the power of community support and another year of exceptional impact thanks to you.

Meet Our 2024 Emcee

Our 2024 Live It Up! emcee is Barrett Brooks. Barrett is an analyst on NBC Philly, a two-time Emmy winner, a former Philadelphia Eagle, and Super Bowl XL Champion for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Barrett is a devoted Brand Champion for Help Hope Live, and his personal connection to our mission runs deep: his wife is a nurse with a frontline view of the burdens faced by the clients in our community.

Meet Our 2024 Honorees

Gerhard Schmidt & Marilyn Clark, 2024 Help Award Recipients at Live It Up!. Gerhard has white skin, short white hair, and glasses. Marilyn has light skin and blonde hair to her shoulders.

Our 2024 Help Award goes to Bridge to Mobility and will be accepted by its executive director Gerhard Schmidt and board chair Marilyn Clark.

Help Hope Live is a “Shared Mission Partner” of Bridge to Mobility, a nonprofit that is leading an industry-wide initiative to collaboratively support the mobility access needs of persons with disabilities for adaptive vehicles and related equipment.

Marilyn’s late husband founded MobilityWorks – a leading dealer of wheelchair vans and a top source of client referrals to Help Hope Live.

Lisa Thomas-Laury, 2024 Hope Award recipient at Live It Up!. Lisa has light brown skin and short brown and blonde hair.

Our 2024 Hope Award goes to Philadelphia media icon Lisa Thomas-Laury. Living with a rare disease, Lisa has firsthand experience with finding hope and cultivating a new normal following an unexpected diagnosis. The former 6abc “Action News” anchor penned a memoir about her rare experiences and is a beacon of hope for others facing chronic health conditions.

Lisa’s son, Langston Laury, Jr. is a Help Hope Live Board Member.

Michael Newmuis, 2024 Live Award recipient at Live It Up!. Michael has brown skin, a short black beard, a bald head, and a blue pinstriped suit.

Our 2024 Live Award goes to Michael Newmuis, friend and former aide to Help Hope Live spinal cord injury client-Ambassador Jeff Granger Harris.

Michael serves in Mayor Cherelle Parker’s administration here in our back yard as the 2026 Director for the City of Philadelphia.

Stephanie P. McAlaine, 2024 Rainey Award Recipient at Live It Up!. Stephanie has light skin, hazel eyes, and wavy brown and blonde hair.

Our 2024 Rainey Award for Volunteer of the Year goes to Stephanie P. McAlaine.

Stephanie is the sister of Doug Parisano, a transplant recipient and Help Hope Live client, and shares her neighborhood with several clients who have turned to Help Hope Live to assist with fundraising after a spinal cord injury.

Stephanie is a former Help Hope Live Board Member and devoted supporter of our mission.
