We are so grateful to the team at PHL-17 and our client Sidney Schmid and mom, Krishna, for making it possible for us to share a special story on-air with our local Philadelphia community.
Krishna, Sidney, and their Client Services Coordinator, Stacia, were interviewed live about Sidney’s journey with Help Hope Live, his customized adaptive bike (which they brought to the studio!), and an upcoming fundraiser here in our backyard to help fuel our mission.
Stacia shared details about the upcoming Hope Travels 5K annual fundraiser on May 16 here in Radnor, PA. Participants can run, walk, roll, watch, and enjoy a day of fun with the community along with a timed 5K.

Born on Valentine’s Day, Sidney is an active, talkative 4-year-old with a Hollywood smile who is living with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy. Sidney’s family came to Help Hope Live in 2024 to fundraise for therapies that are not covered by insurance.
In 2025, Sidney received a customized adaptive bike through our Every Child Deserves a Bike partnership with the Philadelphia Flyers Alumni Association:
As mom shared on Sidney’s Campaign Page, the bike represented much more than just a way to get around. “I had quietly stopped expecting Sidney to ride a bike this early. Now, you can catch him cruising the neighborhood with his favorite tunes blasting from a portable speaker, living his absolute best life,” she explained.
“This is so much more than a bike. It’s freedom. It’s joy. It’s Sidney, exactly as he was always meant to be.”
Sidney and family are facing mounting medical and related costs as they determine which therapies will give their 4-year-old the best chance of a mobile, joyful, and independent future. He’s already made relentless progress in his outpatient therapy in Philly, graduating to the next size of gait trainer and beginning to sit on his own.
Help Hope Live remains a non-negotiable part of their journey as they look to the future. As Krishna explains, fundraising will help them to make possible:

When we first reached out to our local media, the campaign in Sidney’s honor had raised $18,000. Just a few weeks later, they’ve surpassed $22,600 raised.
