Lung transplant candidate Shannon Zane King received a fundraising boost from an unexpected source: 79-year-old Navy veteran David Lower, who pledged $5,000 of his 2024 World Series of Poker winnings to the Help Hope Live campaign in Shannon’s honor.
David finished in 42nd place in his first-ever WSOP tournament out of 3,362 participants.
“Shannon is the son of one of my high school classmates…When I found out about his illness, I told his mother that I would donate half of any winnings.”
