Danny’s Story
At 31 years old, Danny English is in the fight of his life against kidney disease. He pursues four dialysis sessions per day to stay alive. A kidney transplant is a huge source of hope for Danny, but the preparations for the gift of life include physical, emotional, and financial barriers.
Danny’s father works at Pittsburgh Air Systems, and his work family has come together to help launch a major community-wide fundraising effort to provide help and hope for Danny. Through the nonprofit Help Hope Live, funds raised will be a critical lifeline.
Proceeds from the Drive for a Dream fundraiser will benefit Help Hope Live in Danny’s honor. Tax-deductible donations can also be made anytime at: https://helphopelive.org/campaign/23037/
The Pittsburgh Air Systems team is rallying not just to provide financial support but also to potentially bring the gift of a kidney transplant within closer reach.
Because the wait for a kidney from a deceased donor can be extensive, they are helping to spread the word about the chance for a selfless living kidney donor to volunteer to be Danny’s miracle.
“Every day is a battle,” they explain on his fundraising page, “but Danny finds the strength to fight for his future.”
Unlike a GoFundMe campaign, donations to Help Hope Live are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law, and all funds raised will be managed by the nonprofit to cover verified medical and related expenses. Help Hope Live verifies medical and financial need for every patient.
Help Hope Live is a national nonprofit that specializes in engaging communities in secure, tax-deductible fundraising campaigns for people who need a transplant or are affected by a catastrophic injury or illness. Since 1983, campaigns organized by Help Hope Live have raised over $181 million to pay patient expenses. ###
