COMMUNITY HELPS MOM WITH NEW HEART COVER MEDICAL COSTS

Patty Hill Wants to See Her 14-Year-Old Daughter Grow Up

HARDINSBURG, Ky.—In 2021, Patricia “Patty” Hill’s enlarged heart had led to a life-changing medical emergency. One year later in July 2022, she received the gift of a lifetime:  a new heart. Despite the incredible gift of a longer life and the chance to watch her teen daughter grow up, Patty is still facing immense medical and financial challenges—and her loving Hardinsburg community is rallying to help through a fundraising campaign with the trusted national nonprofit Help Hope Live.

In 1998, Patty learned she had an enlarged heart. By 2009, she was in congestive heart failure. In April 2021, she received an LVAD device—essentially an artificial heart to keep her alive while she waited for a life-saving transplant. “I lived on batteries during the day and plugged my heart into the wall at night,” Patty explained.

In July 2022, Patty got the call of a lifetime: she would be receiving a heart transplant. While it saved her life, the heart transplant came with significant complications, including more than four months in intensive care.

Patty dearly loves her 14-year-old daughter, a “bright young lady” who is excited about her future. “She understands what her mom is going through,” said Patty.

In the midst of her challenges, Patty went through a divorce.

While the heart transplant has given her a new chance at a healthier future, Patty is now facing a second fight: a kidney transplant need. She is dependent on dialysis until she can receive a second life-saving transplant.

To help Patty face the overwhelming medical and financial burden of her ongoing fight, her loving community began fundraising with the trusted nonprofit Help Hope Live.

The fundraising campaign has raised over $3,900 so far to help with the numerous transplant expenses that Patty’s insurance doesn’t cover.

Tax-deductible donations can be made at: https://helphopelive.org/campaign/19976/

Unlike a GoFundMe campaign, donations to Help Hope Live are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law, and all funds raised will be managed by the nonprofit to cover verified medical and related expenses. Help Hope Live verifies medical and financial need for every patient.

Help Hope Live is a national nonprofit that specializes in engaging communities in secure, tax-deductible fundraising campaigns for people who need a transplant or are affected by a catastrophic injury or illness. Since 1983, campaigns organized by Help Hope Live have raised over $181 million to pay patient expenses. ###
