Lorraine Kimp, better known as “Effie” desperately needs your help. As a result of treatment from a brain aneurysm rupture suffered in 2009, Effie is now facing kidney failure. After the aneurysm, Effie was in a two-week coma and woke up needing to be retaught the simple basics of her life (i.e. walking, writing, reading, swallowing and cooking). She required many aggressive medical treatments, and as a result her kidneys started to fail. As Effie’s condition improves and she gains back her independence from her aneurysm, she unfortunately faces a new struggle. Effie must receive a new kidney, or her life is at stake and she won’t be able to survive much longer.
This past February, Effie’s kidneys have completely stopped working and she is now suffering from end-stage-renal disease, or kidney failure. She spent several weeks in the hospital and has been on a strict regimen of dialysis treatments ever since. After extensive medical testing, Effie has been accepted on the active transplant list at Spokane Sacred Heart Hospital in Washington. However, Effie must raise enough money to help pay for her out-of-pocket medical expenses in order to receive a new kidney through a lifesaving kidney transplant.
Even with health insurance, Effie is facing very high out-of-pocket medical expenses. While Effie is out of work and waits for her transplant, she is facing high co-pays and deductibles, medical bills, lodging and meal fees, and living expenses. She is required to raise upwards of $10,000 and will face the high cost of post-transplant, anti-rejection medications needed to halt rejection for the rest of her life. She will need to temporarily relocate from her home state, Montana to be closer to the hospital in Washington.
Effie has a big heart, is a loyal friend and has helped others by volunteering in her community her whole life. Now it is time to reach out and help Effie with any donation amount you may feel comfortable giving or can afford. Effie is also asking you copy this letter and send it to anyone you know that may want to help. If you would consider donating the gift-of-life through a live kidney donation to Effie, please contact Effie at [email protected]
To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Effie’s honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the Northwest Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.

Yes, I have been quiet for awhile. however very busy. I moved home & I do Peritoneal Dialysis daily right here in my home. I am so grateful.
I have been in & out of Hospitals. I did have my Parathyroid removed. It was causing all kinds of challenges in my body. It took several months to recover from the surgery & to regulate my calcium. I am thrilled to have it gone and feel so much better.
I have had 18 brave, kind, & giving friends offer their kidney, they have all been eliminated. I am looking for a donor , if you’re interested, please please call me. 406-370-2641. I will cover your expenses. A gift of LIFE will be sooooo appreciated.
Hugs, Effie
UPDATE: All 13 of my volunteer kidney donors have been eliminated. The reasons were because of age, some smoked, their own health issues, changed their minds, or their blood did not match. My hat goes off to them as heros just the same that they stepped up and offered such an exceptional gift of life. Thank you all so much for your kindness, love, and generosity. A big hug to all of you!
I am onto Plan B: I will get a Port surgerically put in my stomach on December 20,2016. Then take classes to learn about and how to do Peritoneal Dialysis at home. Then I will leave Missoula and go home to do my dialysis. I will let you all know in a couple of months as to how it works and how it is successfully going for me. I will wait till a live kidney comes available from a volunteer donor or one from the National Cadaver Donor List matches me. There are over 100,000 waiting on National List and an average of 6,000 people die each year waiting for a kidney. If anyone out there is interested in volunteering a live kidney, give me a call at 406-370-2641.
I want to thank Linda Osmanson for her generosity & kindness for allowing me to live in her very comfortable home so I am able to do Dialysis at a Clinic in Missoula which is three hours from where I live. I have been with Linda & her kind family for eight months & most likely two more months before I can go home to do Peritoneal Dialysis. Thanks so much Linda! This journey would be so much more challenging without you. A big hug to you!
Thanks again to all my Financial Contributors. A big hug to you!
It is the Holiday Season. Be safe, have fun, and enjoy all who you love, Effie
Hello my Dear Friends & April, I have just returned from Spokane Sacred Heart Hospital in Washington. I was poked, prodded & tested for 2 days. My organs & heart are strong along with my body for the surgery of a Transplant. No one has ever doubted my spirit or desire. I am APPROVED for a kidney transplant! One of my volunteer donors has contacted the Transplant Team to be processed to find out if there is a match already. As soon as there is a match, the Transplant will take place as soon as possible. I thank you all! Because of your kindness, my life is possible. I appreciate and love you.
Hello Family & My Loving Friends, Thank you so much for reaching my first goal that helped me get back on the Active Kidney Transplant List at Spokane Sacred Heart Hospital in the State of Washington. I am waiting for THE call to go & start the process.
I have done all my tests & shots locally. My car is serviced & ready to go. All I have left to do is pack my bags. I am ready to get this Transplant completed and get back to living my Life & enjoying family, friends, & the beauty in Montana. The next goal is to help with after transplant expenses for the rest of my time here on Planet Earth.
THANK YOU to all of my thoughtful and generous donors who have helped me reach my first required fundraising goal of $10,000 to be placed on the active kidney transplant list. Now that I am actively listed for transplant, I am required to raise more money to help with temporary relocation fees for upwards of 6 weeks after my transplant surgery. I will be required to attend follow-up appointments twice per month, and medical testing following my transplant surgery. Anti-rejection medications will be lifelong and over $2000/ month. Raising $50,000 will help with these lifelong out-of-pocket expenses needed for the rest of my life. Thank you ahead of time for your generous and thoughtful tax-deductible donation. Gratefully, Effie Kimp

Willie and I talked to you in Jackson last fall. We were writing a book of 4x4 trails of the area, and I think you even bought one. Hope this campaign works for you and you get the medical care you need. I also had my parathyroid removed back in 2012...so know how that one goes.
