Prior to Petra’s accident she had a very full and active life. Petra is a single mother of three children, Christopher, Katrina and William. She would love to go home and continue to raise her youngest child, William who is 13-years-old. Petra loved to travel with her children and chose a job as a truck driver which allowed her to be out in the world enjoying the sights. Her other hobbies included skiing, jet skiing and working in her yard.
In spite of the many struggles that Petra faces over the next few years, she remains hopeful that she can return to her home and continue a life of productivity with the help of family and friends. Even with insurance, there will be many uninsured, injury-related expenses such as: handicapped accessible home modifications, medical supplies and rehab therapy at the Kaiser Rehabilitation Center to help regain function and independence.
To assist with the costs of home modifications and rehab, a fundraising campaign in Petra’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. In 2000, they expanded their mission to include those who have sustained catastrophic injuries. All contributions are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Midwest/West Catastrophic Injury Fund and are administered by HelpHOPELive for injury-related expenses. I hope that you will consider making a donation. Any help that you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
