As many of you may know, Janet was diagnosed with interstitial lung disease in 2016 and has been pursuing a heart and lung transplant since 2017.

The severe fibrosis in her lungs makes it difficult to breath without supplemental oxygen but even with this help every day tasks are a a pretty extreme exertion. The only long term treatment option is to receive a heart and lung transplant. After two unsuccessful evaluation processes in Texas and Colorado, Janet was approved to be on the transplant list at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She has relocated to Minnesota from Louisiana and is waiting to find out if she will receive the life saving donation of these organs.

Janet has gone through so much in this process. The magnitude of a double lung and heart surgery is a lot to wrap ones head around but Janet knows that she wants to be able to see her grandchildren grow and thrive for as long as she can. Janet knows that life is precious and that this surgery will require a lot of work on her part and a lot of support from family and friends that she is so appreciative of. She is looking forward to the opportunity to give back to her community following her recovery from her transplants.
