I was diagnosed with severe COPD and Emphysema in 2018. I was able to continue working for awhile. With every year that passed my conditioned worsened to the point that I was forced to retire before I desired. My condition has diminished to the point that my Fev 1 is less than 400cc and Fev1/FVC is 35% which primarily means that it is difficult for me to breath on any given day. I’m at the point were the only option is a lung transplant.
A lung transplant is expensive. Actually any type of transplant is expensive. Insurance does not cover all of the key essential items related to the procedure. Based on where I live I need to relocate near the hospital for about 2 months. The cost of a temporary rental, medication and medical cost is what I need help with.
With your help I can add life to my years. I have chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.

Just got news from the doctor that I will have the remaining larger chest tubes out today! Then I will have two smaller chest tubes remaining that will be bulbed. I’m getting better each day and walked 6 ft yesterday! I am getting up and walking to the bathroom since this morning and looking forward to all the progress I’ve made and have yet to make.
This morning I walked about 30 feet with PT and at this point I’ve had my neck lines removed and look forward to getting my feeding tube removed that’s been delivering my nutrients. As of yesterday I had my first meal with solid foods and working on building my strength and dexterity. I should be able to move into the step down unit pending availability of a bed. I’m talking and sitting up more and ready to keep this recovery moving smoothly. I am eternally grateful for everyone cheering me on and providing support!! It’s going to be a good day!
I had my breathing tube removed around 7 AM this morning and I’m sitting up next to the hospital bed finally alert and ready to get this recovery rolling! I still am unable to eat but I will be trying to take a few sips of water shortly. I am overjoyed to be on the other side of surgery and work back to my normal vivacious self!! More updates to come as things progress. As always, thank you for your love and support!
I finally received a bilateral lung transplant on 2/21/23; I got the call around 10:45 PM on 2/20/23 and arrived in Cleveland around 3:45 AM. I got checked in and prepped and found out after a while it was NOT a dry run! My next steps include housing expenses for at least 6-8 weeks following the surgery to be within distance of the Cleveland Clinic along with subsequent medical costs among other expenses. It will be a long journey of recovery but myself and my supports are prepared to overcome the challenge! Shares, prayers and anything you can spare is genuinely appreciated. We thank everyone for all of the love and support!
