Susan Dianne Perry was born on November 2, 1955 and died on September 26, 2024 at age 68. She was a loving wife and mother, the beach, making various forms of art including handmade jewelry, painting, and knitted items. She is survived by her husband Bobby Perry, her son Aaron Perry and his wife Rita Perry, and her daughter Jennifer Dix and her husband Zac Dix, as well as her grandchildren born to Jennifer and Zac; Lia, and Story Dix.Family and friends of Susan Perry are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with her preparation and care while she was awaiting a lung transplantation. This fundraiser was initially created to help fund the lung transplant as well, but due to unfortunate circumstances related to complications from her disease, Susan Perry passed away in September of 2024 before she could secure a new set of lungs. The purpose of the fundraiser is now to help her family recoup the expenses accumulated from her medical care over the last year of her treatment in preparation for this transplant, including uninsured medical expenses as well as hotel and transportation expenses for her husband during times in which she was admitted to Vanderbilt hospital.A message from Susan about her medical conditions that led to her need for a lung transplant:”It was first noticed in 2015 on routine chest x-ray during regular check up. I saw a local pulmonologist for a few years with only small changes seen on CT scan. Local pulmonologist decided because of these changes to send me to Vanderbilt University Medical Centers pulmonologists that specialized in these types of lung diseases to get a real diagnosis rather than just the general umbrella of diseases known as Interstitial Lung Diseases.I was diagnosed in 2017 with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and was given at that time a 3-5 year life expectancy. Thanks to the care of these doctors and the medications they prescribed I am on year nine. I have progressed faster since 2022 and am now on oxygen pretty much all the time and struggle to breathe with any exertion.”Susan’s family has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.
