On September 3, 2024, a simple, everyday moment changed Kate Kosaka’s life forever. While walking her three dogs, she suffered a devastating fall, resulting in a C2-level spinal cord injury that left her paralyzed from the neck down.
In the months since, Kate has faced unimaginable challenges. Yet through it all, her faith has remained strong, and her spirit have remained joyous. She often shares that she has always felt like God’s favorite child, and even during these difficult times, she has never once questioned His goodness.
Kate has made incredible progress—she has transitioned off the feeding tube, learned to control her phone with her face and eyes, play music using a mouth stick, and bravely navigate her new reality. Though she remains dependent on a ventilator, she has reached an incredible milestone by weaning off it for up to 24 hours at a time —a clear display of her strength and determination. But as she prepares to leave the hospital, she needs our help to return home safely and continue rebuilding her life.
Our Goal: Making Home a Place Where Kate Can Thrive
In this first phase of the fundraiser, we are raising $150,000 to cover the most essential modifications needed for Kate to return home with dignity and comfort.
This fund will help with:
· Home Renovations for Accessibility:
· A Wheelchair-Accessible Vehicle:
How You Can Make a Difference
Kate has always been someone who pours love and kindness into others—whether through her music, her crafts, her teaching, or simply the way she makes people feel seen and valued. Now, we have the chance to give back to her.
Here’s how you can help:
Although Kate’s life has changed, her joy, faith, and love for others hasn’t. She continues to inspire everyone around her, and with the right resources, we know she can live a full and meaningful life. Let’s come together to help Kate take this next step. Donate today, share her story, and be part of bringing her home.
