Many of you know Rodrigo Rojas. He is a wonderful son, grandson, brother, and friend to many. What you may not know is that in March of 2008, at the age of 18 Rodrigo was diagnosed with end-stage renal failure. He has been on dialysis for the past two years and is in need of a life-saving kidney transplant. He is hoping that soon he will be placed on the kidney transplant waiting list at Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital and Medical Center.
Rodrigo was not able to finish his high school career due to the time he spent in the hospital. In spite of the many struggles Rodrigo has been facing, he was able to earn his G.E.D. a short time later and is now attending Portland Community College to build for his future life while he waits for his transplant.
This brings us to the purpose of this letter. Not only is a transplant a major surgical life saving procedure, it is very expensive and insurance will not cover all the costs. A fundraising campaign in Rodrigo’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive (formerly NTAF) to help with his expenses related to his transplant that are not covered by insurance. HelpHOPELive is a non-profit organization that has been helping the transplant community for nearly 30 years. All contributions are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
