An outgoing, strong and positive woman who makes everyone she meets smile, my mother always has an optimistic outlook on life. She loves to cross stitch, scrapbook, play Mahjong, and most of all spend time with her beautiful grandchildren! Unfortunately, lengthy hospital stays have kept my mom from doing the things she enjoys most. She has been very compliant and does everything she is told by her physician to control her diabetes. However, her condition has declined and she now is in complete renal failure. With a tendency to downplay her illness, my mom always assures us she is okay. A selfless woman who likes to steer clear of attention, we all realize how sick my mom truly is. My mom deserves a kidney transplant more than ever, and to be able to live the life she deserves!
Transplants are life-saving, but also come with a large cost. Even with insurance, JaVon is faced with very high out-of-pocket medical expenses including anti-rejection medications, for the rest of her life following surgery. She also has extensive co-pays and deductibles, caregiver fees, travel and lodging costs, laboratory and hospital bills, medical testing fees, and several other expenses not covered by her health insurance. She is even moving and downsizing due to financial hardship. My dad does work, but with his limited income, and missed time from work to care for my mom, things have been extremely difficult for my mom and our family.
To help with the financial burden of my mother’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in JaVon’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fund raising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the North-Central Kidney Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider a contribution.
Thank you for your prayers, support, and generosity. Any donation amount is truly a gift for my mom. Keep an eye on the website because we will be planning some upcoming fundraising events this Fall!
Gratefully,
Crystal Remme, JaVon’s Daughter,
(507) 920-6210 – please feel free to contact me with any questions or more information.
JaVon received her new kidney on January 7, 2017. Since the transplant she hasaid had some medical complications, however things seem to be looking up now!
The anti-rejection meds are very expensive and she could still use any help her very much!
