Community rallies around local therapist with cancer

Emily Nussdorfer

“Nussdorfer may have a background in helping others heal, but she didn’t expect to need that help herself…”

After years of helping others as a trauma therapist, an ovarian cancer diagnosis changed Emily Nussdorfer’s life – and the helper became the one in need of help.

Emily learned about Help Hope Live from a friend who had prior experience with our platform. She was astounded by the immediate support. Financial help through donations in Emily’s honor paired with on-the-ground assistance with everything from meal planning to laundry.

As friend Karen shared:

“When cancer is on the table, community is everything. Whether we’re there in body or not, we are at her back, holding hands through all of it.”

Emily is working on a children’s book about a young girl who faces her fears to help save her village.

“People have given to me in ways that have blown my heart open. I feel more empowered in ways that I’ve never felt in my life.”

Emily is still facing a hard road ahead. The campaign in her honor has exceeded $49,000 raised towards her $50,000 initial goal.

“With your generous support, I was able to pay for my rent, utilities, insurance, supportive and integrative healing modalities and medical costs and copays, after experiencing a drastic cut in my ability to work. I am so tremendously grateful to each one of you for your support, and you all kept me alive.”
