Tremia 2008 Tremia 2011 Tremia Appling Wife of Dwayne Appling Mother of Sheldon Rundel Dear Family and Friends: As you probably know, seven years ago I was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythamtoses (SLE - Lupus). My life has been a daily battle with this disease. This disease has taken away my quality of life and has left me disabled. I am homebound unable to work, drive, or do everyday household chores like cooking, cleaning, and laundry. I am dependent on my husband and son to help me make it through each day. I dream of the day that my life is given back. I can see myself well and doing the things I miss so much. I will be able to participate in my son's life outside of the four walls of our home. My husband and I can again be good stewards in our community and church helping where needed. We take for granted our daily lives until it is taken away; then, you can see the blessings in the simplest things. Over the past seven years I have been on all the treatments that have been found to help patients with lupus. I have continued to deteriorate. Last year we visited the Mayo Clinic and I was put on a protocol in hopes of finding remission. Unfortunately, the protocol did not work. At this point, we have used up all available treatments for SLE. I have been evaluated by the experts at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL and they find that I am an excellent candidate and will benefit from a stem cell transplant. This treatment will require Dwayne and I to be in Chicago for up to four months. Because of the extraordinary expense of stem cell transplantation, we need your help! Even with health insurance, there are numerous uncovered expenses such as medical deductibles, travel and relocation expenses. At a time like this, the support of our family and friends is critical to ensure that I have a successful recovery. I am asking for your help in the fight for my life.
