Pauli’s Story

Loving wife and mother Pauli Duran has spent the past 40 years helping people with disabilities to improve their lives. Now, she is in her own fight for a better life: Pauli is facing end-stage kidney disease and needs a kidney transplant to survive.

Even though Pauli has health insurance, there are thousands in costs insurance won’t fully cover.

Her family has been told to prepare to pay $5,000 per month out of pocket for required post-transplant medications for three months to one year. They will also need to cover the cost of lodging for Pauli and her kidney donor near the transplant center for at least 30 days after the transplant.

To help eliminate these financial barriers to transplant, Pauli’s community started a fundraising campaign with the trusted national nonprofit Help Hope Live.

Funds raised from the Cheyenne Community Garage Sale will go directly to the nonprofit in honor of Pauli to offset some of these critical transplant-related costs.

Donations to Help Hope Live are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law, and all funds raised will be managed by the nonprofit to cover verified medical and related expenses. Help Hope Live verifies medical and financial need for every patient.

Help Hope Live is a national nonprofit that specializes in engaging communities in secure, tax-deductible fundraising campaigns for people who need a transplant or are affected by a catastrophic injury or illness. Since 1983, campaigns organized by Help Hope Live have raised over $181 million to pay patient expenses. ###
