During the annual Flyers Alumni Golf Invitational in Delaware this month, our client Sylvan DeSocio and his family received the gift of mobility: a customized, Flyers-themed adaptive bike.
Through our partnership with the Flyers Alumni Association, Sylvan received this special surprise on June 23, 2025 with his excited family and equally-excited Flyers alumni members surrounding him along with our Executive Director Kelly L Green.
Alongside Joe Watson, Bernie Parent, and Brad Marsh, one other familiar face made a heartfelt appearance: Scott Daniels, grandfather of our client and fellow adaptive bike recipient Adrian Diaz.
About Sylvan
“We are grateful for him and how he adds to our family. He has drawn us closer to each other and helped us to slow down and be present with each other and in the world.”
Born in 2018, Sylvan was diagnosed with polyimicrogyria or PMG, a diagnosis that has a similar impact as cerebral palsy. Sylvan’s secondary diagnosis, DiGeorge Syndrome, affects his hearing and heart. Now 6 years old, he will need assistance with care, eating, moving, and playing for the rest of his life.
In November 2024, fundraising with Help Hope Live brought an accessible van within reach for Sylvan’s family.
The van and Sylvan’s new adaptive bike both represent new hope and motion for everyday life, but we know families like his will face countless out-of-pocket medical costs to keep their loved ones safe and healthy.
That’s why our nonprofit’s trusted medical fundraising support will remain a key part of future plans for Sylvan’s family and thousands of other families nationwide.
