Tanisha’s Story & Cause
On August 25, 2015, single mother of two Tanisha Harris was in a hit-and-run accident that left her with a life-altering C5-7 spinal cord injury. Since then, she has been fighting relentlessly to regain as much mobility and independence as possible through Project Walk, a local paralysis recover center.
Incredibly, through her tireless efforts, Tanisha defied her prognosis. She was able to walk with prosthetic leg braces within 18 months of the accident and regain some feeling in her arms and hands.
However, to maintain that progress, she must be able to continue to pursue intensive physical therapy. Insurance does not cover the cost of this intensive therapy despite its proven medical benefits for people like Tanisha living with paralysis.
That’s why Tanisha turned to the trusted medical fundraising nonprofit Help Hope Live.
Supported by her community and her two beloved kids, Nai’leh and Khalei, the 34-year-old maintains a strong, faith-filled, and positive view of her future:
“The accident is a blessing in disguise that changed me for the better. I appreciate the littlest things—through prayer, patience, faith, perseverance, and a positive mindset, I’ve been able to beat the odds so far.”
