$2,700 RAISED TO SET HOPE IN MOTION FOR 15-YEAR-OLD
Living with Cerebral Palsy, Miguel Has “Love, Courage, Incredible Spirit”
HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio—15-year-old Miguel Wade lights up every room he rolls into. Living with cerebral palsy, he faces profound medical challenges, but mom Meagan says “he faces every day with courage, love, and an incredible spirit.”
His loving community has raised over $2,700 so far with the nonprofit Help Hope Live to assist with a critical need insurance doesn’t cover: an accessible van.
Donations are tax deductible at: https://helphopelive.org/campaign/26650/
In addition to cerebral palsy, Miguel has been diagnosed with a seizure disorder, autism spectrum disorder, and developmental delays. He relies on a wheelchair for mobility, and at 15, Miguel has already outgrown his mom in height.
Local to Huber Heights for 10 years, Meagan and Miguel have strong local ties. They go to church at Christian Life Center of Dayton, and Miguel attends Wayne High School. Mom Meagan works for Premier Health. His father passed away in 2015.
“I am a proud mom,” explained Meagan. “He has been my greatest teacher. He’s the strongest person I know. He reminds everyone around him what truly matters.”
As Miguel has grown, he’s become too big for Meagan to lift in and out of their standard vehicle. As a result, “every appointment, errand, and outing has become unsafe for both of us,” she explained. “I worry that one wrong move could lead to an injury for him or for me.”
That’s why they moved forward with a fundraising campaign for an accessible van with the trusted nonprofit Help Hope Live.
Miguel and Meagan’s loving community has already raised over $2,700 in Miguel’s honor.
An accessible van means “less fear, less strain, and more freedom” with the flexibility to enjoy family gatherings and the community—plus access to the critical therapy appointments and doctor visits Miguel needs to stay healthy.
Insurance won’t cover the cost despite the medical necessity.
As Meagan points out, community support means even more than financial help at this time of need: “It means so much to me that there are folks out there who care about our situation.”
Meagan hopes to expand their online fundraising efforts into in-person events with Help Hope Live as they prepare for the excitement of Miguel’s 16th birthday on May 1. Stay tuned on his Campaign Page with Help Hope Live at: https://helphopelive.org/campaign/26650/
Unlike a GoFundMe campaign, donations to Help Hope Live are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law, and all funds raised will be administered by the nonprofit to cover verified medical and related expenses. Help Hope Live verifies medical and financial need for every patient.
