A Help Hope Live Client Case Study with Sean Alazraki
Part of the Southeast Catastrophic Injury Fund
OVERVIEW
In October 2025, Sean Alazraki experienced an accident that resulted in a life-changing spinal cord injury. Sean was accepted into Shepherd Center’s rehab program to devote his time and resilience to intensive paralysis recovery.

THE PROBLEM
As Sean prepared for a January 2026 homecoming, he and his wife, Christine, faced a mounting list of medical and related expenses.
They anticipated $65,000 in immediate costs just to bring Sean home safely and support his ongoing recovery.
In addition to the out-of-pocket cost of an accessible van and caregiving, Sean faced unique needs for custom equipment and a hard limit on rehab sessions that would be covered by insurance.
Without help, his homecoming and his long-term recovery would be in jeopardy.
THE SOLUTION/APPROACH
Christine found Help Hope Live through an online search. Within the same month of Sean’s injury, Sean and Christine had launched a fundraising campaign with our nonprofit and equipped their community with a meaningful way to make an impact.

THE OUTCOME
Within the first 3 months, the community raised over $56,000 for Help Hope Live in Sean’s honor.
Sean was welcomed home by handmade signs and, in a special upgrade, a series of ramps that made it possible for Sean to join Christine in one of their favorite pre-injury activities: popping over to their neighbor’s house to socialize and get a change of scenery.

The Help Hope Live Touch
Sean and Christine were able to emphasize Help Hope Live’s nonprofit status, accountability, and transparency, making it easy for donors to trust that funds raised in his honor would be used responsibly and go precisely where they were needed most.
“Every donation, message, and share has lifted a piece of the financial and emotional weight.”
