Dear Friends, Family and Community:
Deon Burnett was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease less than three years ago. Within two months of diagnosis, Deon started dialysis three days a week for over four hours each day. His doctors have told our family that his only option is a life-saving kidney transplant.
Deon is 59 years old, wonderful father to three, fun grandfather of nine, brother, uncle, cousin and good friend to many. Before this disease took its nasty toll, he was employed as a heavy duty truck mechanic, and long haul truck driver. Deon is no longer able to work or maintain the active life he always had either bike riding, fishing or taking part in many outdoor recreational events. Most of all, Deon misses spending quality time with his family, friends, and church members.
Deon looks forward to returning to work, spending more time with family, and becoming involved in his church again. He feels that a new kidney transplant is indisputably God giving him a second chance at life.
Funding for this life saving procedure is a monumental task and a challenge our family cannot meet alone. Even with insurance there are many expenses that must be paid out of pocket. Some of these costs are co-pays, deductibles, lab fees and Deon will be on a life-time of anti-rejection medications. This puts our family up against a challenge we cannot meet alone and need your help.
Deon has chosen to fundraise with HelpHOPELive in part because HelpHOPELive assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for donors. Donors can be sure that funds donated will be used only to pay or reimburse medically-related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Donate Now button.
On behalf of Deon, his children, grandchildren and our family, thank you for your kindness, generosity, support and prayers.
