An Adaptive Bike for Sidney

3-year-old Sidney Schmid stands in a walker device in physical therapy.

On Monday, July 14, we are excited to present 3-year-old client Sidney Schmid with a customized adaptive bike to support his unique mobility needs – made possible through the amazing Philadelphia Flyers Alumni Association’s Every Child Deserves a Bike partnership.

The bike presentation will take place during the Feasterville Business Association Charity Golf Outing at Spring Mill Country Club in Ivyland, PA.

“Sidney is a bright and happy boy who loves music, nature and watching monster trucks! He really enjoys reading books, as long as you’re willing to let him turn the pages.”

At birth, Sidney experienced a traumatic brain injury as his medical team worked to save his life. He has been diagnosed with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy.

“Your support is a special gift that will have continuing positive ripple effects in our lives. Something truly priceless to us.”

Sidney and his family have worked hard in multiple modes of therapy to give him the most mobility, independence, and confidence possible. Fundraising with Help Hope Live is a key part of a healthy, mobile future.

A January 30 2024 fundraising update from the family of 3-year-old Sidney Schmid explains their shock and gratitude for the overwhelming support they received through their Help Hope Live campaign so far. 3-year-old Sidney Schmid sits between his mom and dad on a train.

While life-changing as a means to access fresh air, therapeutic exercise, and community connections, adaptive bikes are often financially out of reach for families.

We hope this adaptive bike will infuse his life with even more joy and motion.

...Because Every Child Deserves a Bike

We are so grateful to the Flyers Alumni Association for making it possible for us to bring joy, motion, and hope within reach for local kids and young adults living with life-changing disabilities.

We know adaptive bikes can be a game-changer, improving outdoor access, community connection, and regular exercise that can help improve mobility, health, and independence. However, adaptive bikes often remain financially out of reach for families without help.

Thanks to the Flyers Alumni Association, together, we can bring a vision to life: Every Child Deserves a Bike.

Together, we’ve already brought more joy and motion into the lives of dozens of local kids and young adults.
