$5,000 RAISED TO HELP LOCAL WOMAN OVERPOWER PARKINSON’S

After 30 Years as Rehab Specialist, Pamela Lamb Faces Own Diagnosis

SPRING HILL, Tenn.—Pamela Byrd Lamb spent 30 years as a rehabilitation therapist specializing in neurologic dysfunction. In 2015, everything changed: she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Her loving community has raised over $5,000 through a campaign with the nonprofit Help Hope Live to help fuel a specialized treatment that could give Pam hope for a brighter, healthier future.

Friends describe 57-year-old Pam as high energy and the epitome of Southern hospitality. The mom of four spent her career helping clients face medical challenges with courage through rehabilitation.

In 2015, a Parkinson’s diagnosis blindsided Pam and her loved ones. Pam was able to continue her work until 2023, coping with “on” and “off” days with the diagnosis. On “off” days, she faces challenges with movement, stiffness, and tremors. Those “off” days have become more common, robbing her of simple pleasures like enjoying events with friends, attending exercise classes, and going to church.

When she left her profession due to the diagnosis in 2023, Pam also lost her employer-based health insurance. As a result, Pam is no longer able to fund the treatments that could help her to do exactly what she helped her clients do: face her diagnosis with courage and specialized support.

Pam needs to cover $28,000 out of pocket for five days of intensive targeted treatment. That’s why she turned to the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fundraise. Her loving community has already raised over $5,000 in less than one month.

“The outpouring of love, prayers, messages, and incredibly generous donations since I shared my story have been truly overwhelming—in the best way,” explained Pam in an update on December 14. “I am so grateful to have this community with me on this journey.”

Unlike a GoFundMe campaign, donations to Help Hope Live are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law, and all funds raised will be administered by the nonprofit to cover verified medical and related expenses. Help Hope Live verifies medical and financial need for every patient.

Help Hope Live is a national nonprofit that specializes in engaging communities in secure, tax-deductible fundraising campaigns for people who need a transplant or are affected by a catastrophic injury or illness. Since 1983, campaigns organized by Help Hope Live have raised over $193 million to pay patient expenses, assisting more than 25,000 patient families. ###
