SMALL STEPS, BIG IMPACT: “CANS 4 A VAN” HELPS LOCAL WOMAN WITH DISABILITIES

Donate Aluminum Cans Through Sept. 30 to Help Patrice Jetter Get a Wheelchair Van

HAMILTON, N.J.—Now through September 30, you can make a difference in the life of a local woman living with disabilities by dropping off your aluminum “Cans 4 a Van” at Hamilton Community Center (715 Kuser Road) or IceLand Skating Center (6 Tennis Court) in Hamilton. Each can gets local school crossing guard and volunteer Patrice Jetter closer to a critical milestone: purchasing an accessible van.

Drop your aluminum cans at Project Freedom at Hamilton Community Center in the big red container out front or inside IceLand Skating Center—mention that they are donations in honor of Patrice Jetter.

58-year-old Patrice is living with cerebral palsy and multiple other diagnoses. She uses mobility aids to get around, including leg braces and a crutch. You know Patrice as a local school crossing guard—a job she says “she loves very much”. In her free time and during the summers, she volunteers at IceLand Rink teaching kids through the Learn to Skate program. She is spirited and independent and loves art, model railroads, athletics, and decorating.

To keep working, volunteering, and engaging with her community, Patrice needs an accessible van. Insurance has refused to cover the cost, leaving her on the hook for $25,000 or more to secure a dependable replacement van.

So far, the community’s generosity has already pushed her to $2,100 raised towards her $25,000 goal. Donate or view her fundraising page at: https://helphopelive.org/campaign/20023/

Her goal is big, but her sense of determination and gratitude is even bigger. “Thank you all for your support,” wrote Patrice on her fundraising page. “Every little bit helps—no donation is too small.”

Funds raised through Cans 4 a Van now through September 30 and all online donations will be administered by the national nonprofit Help Hope Live in honor of Patrice. The nonprofit responsibly manages all funds raised, pays medical expenses directly, and verifies Patrice’s medical need. Funds raised will not jeopardize Patrice’s state-based benefits.

Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law, and all funds raised will be managed by the nonprofit to cover verified medical and related expenses. Help Hope Live verifies medical and financial need for every patient.

Help Hope Live is a national nonprofit that specializes in engaging communities in secure, tax-deductible fundraising campaigns for people who need a transplant or are affected by a catastrophic injury or illness. Since 1983, campaigns organized by Help Hope Live have raised over $165 million to pay patient expenses. ###
