“Your organizations made this happen today, and we are very grateful.”
In January 2026, we were able to partner with the Flyers Alumni Association to gift a customized Flyers-themed adaptive bike to 13-year-old Maximo “Max” Peng.
Through a special referral from Nemours, Max’s family reached out to our nonprofit to request a life-changing adaptive bike.
Living with quadriplegic cerebral palsy, Max is a CADES student and a social and happy kid who loves staying active and the color orange. As you can see, it was an easy match between Max and our Every Child Deserves a Bike partnership.

“It was wonderful to see Max light up when he saw the bike,” shared Jon-Paul “JP” Pendergnana, M.Ed, the Director of Communication of CADES. “We are so fortunate to have him and his family as part of our community here at CADES.”
Max’s joy is visible—and his personality continued to shine throughout our time together. As Sonny, our Director of Outreach, observed:
“Max was telling jokes to his teachers with his eye gaze communication device.”
Sonny also shared that the adaptive bike will impact more than just one kid and family:
“The family is sharing this bike with CADES…all of the kids can use it. Everyone was very excited.”

“Max was willing to share the new bike with as many of his classmates as possible, which didn’t surprise us in the least,” explained JP at CADES:
“He is that kind of kid.”
If Max’s medical and related needs become a source of financial hardship, our nonprofit will always be available to help his family with trusted medical fundraising support.

…Because Every Child Deserves a Bike
We are so grateful to the Flyers Alumni Association for making it possible for us to bring joy, motion, and hope within reach for local kids and young adults living with life-changing disabilities.
We know adaptive bikes can be a game-changer, improving outdoor access, community connection, and regular exercise that can help improve mobility, health, and independence. However, adaptive bikes often remain financially out of reach for families without help.
Thanks to the Flyers Alumni Association, together, we can bring a vision to life: Every Child Deserves a Bike.
If these stories move you, consider making a donation. With your help, we can set hope in motion for kids just like Max!
