‘Jovita Strong’ 5K as Tukwila rallies for ‘miracle’ recovery from brain aneurysm: Jovita McConnell

Jovita McConnell

Pictured prior to a 2025 aneurysm, Jovita McConnell is seated in a chair wearing glasses with short red-brown hair.

We were grateful to see that three local news outlets covered the story of Jovita McConnell, a loving mom and active community member fundraising with Help Hope Live following a life-changing aneurysm.

Prior to a sudden medical crisis, Jovita served on her local city council and the fire department governance board as well as helping to run a local pantry for children in need.

In April 2025, Jovita experienced a brain aneurysm and spent a month in a coma. Her husband advocated for her recovery even when her medical team believed she had no chance of waking up from a “vegetative state.”

Jovita emerged, pursued specialized treatment at Craig Hospital in Denver, and returned to her lifelong hometown of Tukwila.

A Jovita Strong 5K on May 3, 2026 and online fundraising will help to raise funds in Jovita’s honor to offset the immense out-of-pocket costs associated with her recovery.

When we first reached out to the news, $7,400 had been raised in Jovita’s honor since February 2026. Today, that number has surpassed $10,500.
