“Two nonprofits guide fundraising for people in neurological recovery.”
We’re grateful to our friends at Project Walk New Jersey and Lauren Shevchek & family for participating in coverage about the 10th anniversary of Project Walk New Jersey in 2026. The organization offers one-on-one physical training and ways to strengthen muscles and move differently.
Project Walk is an internationally recognized organization that provides improved quality of life for people affected by paralysis, mobility-related disorders and neurological conditions. It does so through intense activity-based recovery programs, education and training.
Working in tandem, Project Walk New Jersey refers their clients to Help Hope Live to take their first steps towards fundraising. The organization also maintains a fundraising page with Help Hope Live to help fill the gaps for their clients.

31-year-old Lauren Shevchek has been impacted by both Help Hope Live and Project Walk. Injured 3 weeks after her 19th birthday, she has been navigating life with paralysis with style, grace, and community support.
One key barrier in the way of Lauren’s ongoing rehabilitation was not mental or physical but financial. Insurance often cuts off support for ongoing rehab at specialized facilities like Project Walk despite its proven benefits for health and independence.
“Annually, my life with paralysis costs over $100,000 out of pocket.”
Lauren engages in fundraising with Help Hope Live to assist with these uncovered costs, including life-enhancing ongoing rehabilitation. She is also a passionate and well-spoken Help Hope Live client Ambassador, helping other people like her to find trusted medical fundraising help and other resources.
“Life is about the journey. In addition to strength in me that I never thought possible, I have found a community of unwavering support.”
