About James
Funds raised through this special event will support a worthy cause: the South-Central Texas Transplant Fund through the national medical fundraising nonprofit Help Hope Live in honor of local kidney transplant recipient James Michael McLester.
Celebrating 8 years since he received the gift of life, McLester is grateful to his life-saving living kidney donor and proud to “raise awareness through education and my autobiography to impart hope, especially in these challenging times, to all kidney patients like me and anyone in need of an organ transplant.” Fundraising events in McLester’s honor always include stations with volunteers where attendees can learn all about the gift of life and the pathway to becoming a living donor or registered organ donor.
By supporting the nonprofit Help Hope Live, the event will help to defray some of McLester’s critical post-transplant medical costs. Can’t attend? You can make a donation in his honor online at any time at: https://helphopelive.org/campaign/4543/
Donations to Help Hope Live are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law, and all funds raised will be managed by the nonprofit to cover verified medical and related expenses. Help Hope Live verifies medical and financial need for every patient.
Celebrating 40 years of hope, Help Hope Live is a national nonprofit that specializes in engaging communities in secure, tax-deductible fundraising campaigns for people who need a transplant or are affected by a catastrophic injury or illness. Since 1983, campaigns organized by Help Hope Live have raised over $172 million to pay patient expenses. ###
