Recap: 2026 Hope Travels 5K (3rd Annual)

We held our third annual Hope Travels 5K on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

Joining us were nearly 200 friends, including runners, walkers, rollers, sponsors, donors, and supporters of all ages. We linked up at the Radnor Corporate Center to raise over $50,000 to support Help Hope Live’s mission.

A special congratulations to this year’s top-placing runners and fundraisers!

A Mission in Motion

This year’s Hope Travels 5K once again reflected strong aspects of our nonprofit mission. Here are just a few of the meaningful mission moments we experienced.

This year’s event attracted new supporters from the community while reuniting some of our longstanding helpers.

We crossed paths with our Brand Champion Barrett Brooks, current and former Board Members and team members, and even a founding employee from Help Hope Live’s 1983 launch introducing our mission to the next generation.

We were delighted to spend time with Help Hope Live clients and client Ambassadors, including Pat Hoey, Jeff Harris, Sidney Schmidt, Linda Jara, Liz Casperite, and Stephanie & Kelson Williams (and Gus!)

We extend our thanks to the Ambassadors who donated their time to offer Help Hope Live information and friendly smiles to our participants this year.

We were overjoyed to get the chance to showcase our mission, Hope Travels, and our adaptive bike program with our friends at PHL-17 thanks to the participation of Sidney Schmidt and his family.

Sidney and family rolled up to Hope Travels to join us for a day of hope in motion, complete with Sidney’s customized adaptive bike and dad’s unicycle!

We’re glad to share that they are now client Ambassadors who will help other families facing similar medical challenges and out-of-pocket costs to find Help Hope Live for trusted medical fundraising assistance.

Hope traveled a little further this year thanks to more than a dozen virtual participants supporting the event from all across the country.

Stretching from Arizona to Texas to North Carolina to D.C., our virtual hope squad for Hope Travels this year included Board Members Tiffany Coco and Kaushika “KK” Kansara.

Sy’Heem’s Adaptive Bike

The joy on the faces of Sy’Heem Preister and his family was completely contagious as we gifted the 8-year-old with a customized adaptive bike during Hope Travels this year.

Living with autism and sensory processing disorder, Sy’Heem faces daily obstacles, particularly in his capacity to get out his energy in a healthy way and stay active.

Custom adaptive bikes can be life-changing, providing routine rehabilitative exercise, fresh air, and community interaction for kids and adults with disabilities. However, they are typically not covered by insurance, leaving the families of kids like Sy’Heem on the hook for $6,000 or more out of pocket.

That’s where our community comes in.

Funds raised through events like the Hope Travels 5K make it possible for us to not only provide one-on-one help to thousands of families but also to gift customized adaptive bikes to kids and young adults like Sy’Heem.

Special thanks to the 6ABC team and Matteo Iadonisi for covering the moments leading up to Sy’Heem’s bike surprise. It was especially impactful to hear Sy’Heem’s family reflect on his personality, community, and excitement for this gift.

Sponsor Shoutout

We want to share a sincere thank-you to the sponsors and vendors who joined us this year for the Hope Travels 5K. You helped to make this event a far-reaching gathering that reflected the heart of our community.
