$5,400+ RAISED TO HELP MADERA MAN IN NEED OF TRANSPLANT
Robert Gage Must Cover 50% of Cost of Life-Saving Procedure
MADERA, Ca.—At just 42 years old, Robert Gage is facing the need for a liver transplant to continue being the rock of his family. Insurance will cover only 50% of the cost of a liver transplant. That’s why his community is rallying to help through a fundraising campaign in his honor with the national nonprofit Help Hope Live.
His community has raised over $5,400 so far through tax-deductible donations at: https://helphopelive.org/campaign/24366/
Robert and his family were blindsided by a liver disease diagnosis in 2023. “He’s the rock of our family,” explained his sister, Jessica. “He’s an unwavering brother, a devoted son, and a loving uncle who thrives on giving.” In January 2026, the family learned that Robert’s diagnoses had progressed to liver cancer.
Robert is living with medical hardship and cognitive fog that make everyday tasks difficult. Liver disease has made maintaining his employment very difficult—however, Robert is committing to working until he can no longer work, or until he finally gets his transplant miracle.
His loving family turned to the trusted nonprofit Help Hope Live to start a medical fundraising campaign in Robert’s honor.
The community has responded with overwhelming support: over $5,400 has been raised since the campaign launched at https://helphopelive.org/campaign/24366/
As his mother, Rosa, shared in May, Robert is close to being added to the transplant list. They will need to cover the cost of a medical relocation to Fresno for the transplant and subsequent recovery. “Robert continues to do his best to stay positive,” she explained. “Cancer takes more out of a person than most people realize.”
Despite the physical, mental, and emotional challenges he faces, Robert is still enjoying outings to dine with his mom and sister and spending time with his nieces. “Every donation, share, prayer, and word of encouragement truly helps more than we can express,” she said.
Robert’s dream is to get healthy enough to travel, support the family, and “be a pivotal presence in the lives of his nieces and nephews…We want to give him the long, healthy life he deserves.”
Unlike a GoFundMe campaign, donations to Help Hope Live are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law, and all funds raised will be administered by the nonprofit to cover verified medical and related expenses. Help Hope Live verifies medical and financial need for every patient.
Help Hope Live is a national nonprofit that specializes in engaging communities in secure, tax-deductible fundraising campaigns for people who need a transplant or are affected by a catastrophic injury or illness. Since 1983, campaigns organized by Help Hope Live have raised over $194 million to pay patient expenses, assisting more than 25,000 patient families. ###
