On July 14, 2025, we got the chance to bring joy and motion to 3-year-old Sidney Schmid and his family with a customized adaptive bike through our partnership with the Philadelphia Flyers Alumni Association.

During the Feasterville Business Association Charity Golf Outing in Ivyland, PA, we presented a beautiful Flyers-themed bike to Sidney’s family, customized to his unique mobility needs.
As our Executive Director Kelly L Green shared:
“Watching his mom brought to tears as he rode off with such joyful sounds was the best moment of the day. It was a very emotional giveaway.”

Described by his parents as a “bright and happy boy who loves music, nature, and watching monster trucks,” Sidney is living with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy.
For kids with these kinds of diagnoses, the simple childhood joy of riding a bike can be out of reach due to finances: they tend to cost $5,000 or more out of pocket without support from insurance despite their proven therapeutic benefits.

We send our sincere thanks to the Flyers Alumni Association for their generosity and their commitment to bringing joy, hope, and motion within reach for young adults and kids like Sidney through our Every Child Deserves a Bike partnership.

This special presentation was not Sidney’s first life-changing encounter with community support…

Through a Help Hope Live fundraising campaign, his family shared in 2024 that they were “in complete shock after receiving an immediate support to our ask for help.”

Seeking greater out-of-pocket financial support for life-changing therapy for Sidney, they shared, “it’s an incredible weight lifted from our shoulders as parents. For that, I’m truly grateful.”

Ongoing fundraising efforts in Sidney’s honor will help with other medically related expenses that insurance doesn’t fully cover.
